Banana Jungle Lodge

You are Here: › Banana Jungle Lodge

We loved this Banana Jungle Lodge, It is a lodge set in a beautiful flowered jungle garden on land that is used for an organic dairy. We had a choice of staying in a Swahili style (more traditional) cottage or a Chagga Hut. Both were great.

The food was amazing with a real treat of super fresh yogurt from their dairy cows.

The friendliness of the staff is what really set this place apart from others.

Our first day there, staff took us on a hike into the nearby village where we looked at some historic sites.

Then next day they accompanied us on a hike to a waterfall and market in another nearby village.

Our best experience was a traditional meal cooked in a Chagga hut.

We were invited to assist in the preparation of the meal, cutting up bananas to put in a cast iron pot over a fire.

We also were given the opportunity to milk cows in their dairy. This was not a tourist trap, but part of their daily routine.

We came as strangers, but truly left as friends. It was a highlight of our African trip
